Something from Something
Remember how the beater came with a headless stuck bolt too close to a fixed surface below to remove?
It will always leak.
You put a container under the leak.
One day you found this at the bottom:
It almost made the leak worth it.
Remember the book you started, abandoned, then threw into a file of teaching samples?
You couldn’t see it then.
Or the chine collé bit you pulled off the original print?
Remember trimming these very pages?
You learned this in kindergarten.
Why would you ever stop?
You’ll never stop trying
to reveal the true nature of material
ever shifting as we change
as we perceive things differently over time
One thing becomes another, it seems.
But actually,
things become themselves
once you can see them.
